Mount Putuo off the coast of Shanghai is one of the most venerated sites in Chinese Buddhism. It is the mythical home of Guanyin Pusa. The Putuoshan Tourism Development Company came to Zen World Studio to help create a postcard series to promote tourism to the scenic holy sites.
Mount Putuo is one of the holiest sites in Chinese Buddhism. It has a long history in Chinese culture and worshippers and tourists alike have been making the pilgrimage to its shrines for over a thousand years. Because of this, I wanted to reflect the history and purpose of the site through design. I tried to capture this by depicting Buddhist instruments as traditional Chinese watercolors.
